Search, check out, and listen to great eAudiobooks through the RBdigital mobile app! Here are the steps to follow to get connected:
1. Login to or Register with RBdigital through the library website
Connect to RBdigital through the library website. When you are taken to the site, click "Create New Account" to register.
Important: If you used Zinio with Winnipeg Public Library in the past, your username and password has been transferred to RBdigital, so you do not need to register for a new account. Use your old Zinio username and password to log in. (Go to Step 3.)
2. Enter Account Information
Your account is easy to create. Enter your library card number and then you'll be taken to a page that asks you to create a username and password. This is the username and password that you'll use when you log in to the app.
3. Get Apps
4. Sign in to the app using the log in credentials that you created in Step 2.
When you first open the app, the page will default to the USA. Scroll down to Canada and then enter the username and password that you created in Step 2.
After you tap NEXT, you will be taken to a page to enter your password. If you have selected the country correctly, the screen will also say Canada and Winnipeg Public Library.
If your login has been successful, you will be taken to the HOME page of the app.
5. Access the App Menu
To access the app Menu, tap on the 3-line menu button located in the top left corner. From here, you can:
- Narrow down the collection to view audiobooks by tapping on AUDIOBOOKS.
- See the items that you have checked out, placed on a wish list, and your borrowing history. (All of the items in this collection have unlimited use, so we're happy to share that you won't need to place holds on items!)
- Adjust your settings.
- Connect with help resources.
6. Browse or Search the eAudiobook Collection
After you tap on AUDIOBOOKS in the menu, you will be shown a list of the most popular books. To browse the entire collection of books, tap on VIEW ALL located near the top right corner.
You will then be shown the list of available titles. Move from page to page (numbered at the top) to browse through the entire collection.
To Search or Filter:
You can search by KEYWORD, TITLE, AUTHOR, or NARRATOR. Tap on the magnifying glass, select one of the 4 search options from the dropdown, enter your search word(s), and then tap SEARCH.
You can also filter results by tapping on the magnifying glass and filtering by GENRE, AVAILABILITY, and AUDIENCE. (These books are available all of the time, so you won't need to filter by availability.)
7. Find an eAudiobook and borrow it
After you find a book that you're interested in, tap on its cover. You will be taken to its page where you can select the number of days that you'd like to borrow the book for. By default, books will be checked out to you for 21 days. If you want to borrow the book for less time, tap on the 21 days drop down under CHECKOUT and borrow the book for 1-20 days - you pick!
Tap on CHECKOUT to borrow the book.
8. Listen to an eAudiobook
A screen will pop-up to let you know that you have successfully checked out the book. It will then disappear leaving you with the option to PLAY, RETURN, or RENEW the book.
Tap PLAY to listen to the book online. A screen will open showing you the book. When you tap PLAY the book will automatically start to download in the background so you can also listen to it offline.
Tip: The first time you tap Play, the title will automatically download. You can ensure that titles will download only on Wi-Fi (as opposed to your data plan) by going to Settings > Wi-Fi Only and selecting ON. If you do not want the title to start downloading right away, you can hit “back” instead of “play”; your checkouts page will show a “download” button that you can use to download the book at a later time.
ADD BOOKMARK: If there is a part of the book that you like, tap on Add Bookmark. You can re-listen to any bookmarks that you save by tapping on BOOKMARKS located in the bottom right corner.
CHAPTER LIST: This area lists the chapters. If there is a specific chapter that you want to listen to, you can tap on it and the book will start there.
SLEEP TIMER: You can set the book to pause (1 minute to 60 minutes) after a period of listening time.
9. Return an eAudiobook
To return a book, while in the book, tap on the BACK icon and then tap RETURN.
10. Renew an eAudiobook
Renewing a book is easy. While in the book, tap on the BACK icon and then tap RENEW.
